[Editor: AuxBeacon received this on the 24th from a reader who finds it “disturbing” that high school students are being taught to ridicule victims of gun violence and to chant “Lock Her Up” in a leadership training environment. Some CAP members continue to influence others by donning a uniform and the program winks in allowing them to do it.]

Yeah, Cadet Cooper has blown the lid on the sludge of political grooming that has been going down for decades in Civil Air Patrol. Stepped up aggressively since 2009 if you’ve been around since then.

This morning, I watched from Lehigh Valley International Airport as AG Jeff Sessions joined in the drooling chant “Lock Her Up” started by jacked-up high school students attending Turning Point USA’s High School Leadership Summit in Washington.

I am close to Lehigh Valley Composite Squadron and, just as one example, CAP c/2nd Lt Joseph D. Basrawi frequently flashes his Civil Air Patrol uniform and activity credentials together with his chapter of Turning Point USA. Look here. [link removed]

It is disturbing that CAP is once again screwing false ideas into the minds of children to get their way with congressional funding.

  1. Nice job exposing current and past abuse of Civil Air Patrol’s Air Force style uniform and logo. While the Instagram find was a good start, Basrawi’s current Facebook page will soon be a showpiece in the Civil Air Patrol Hall of Shame.

Using the safe link below, you will find that Joe Basrawi’s personal Facebook page has a far more blatant presentation. He’s wearing ABUs with CAP name tapes and posed next to a helicopter in a hangar, but he’s no pilot. Joseph Basrawi hasn’t advanced in Civil Air Patrol beyond his Mitchell Award and cadet second lieutenant rank which he attained 3-4 years ago.

He’s placed the names Turning Point USA and Civil Air Patrol right together in his Intro below his Air Force style profile photo which sits atop a Reagan Bush ’84 cover photo. He is using our Civil Air Patrol uniform, which we idealists of Search and Rescue hold as sacrosanct, to push a political agenda and to advance his chapter Presidency of Turning Point USA at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

These in-your-face “I’m hot ‘cuz I’m deployed, you ain’t ‘cuz you’re not” presentations are leaving a poor impression of Civil Air Patrol in the eyes of a wider audience. It is also an insult to the thousands who have served in the Civil Air Patrol to see commanders turning a blind eye to this because they lack the courage to oppose it.

A Civil Air Patrol that cannot separate itself from publicly endorsing certain political views will become weaker each time the pendulum swings back against extremism. As a life-saving and educational organization, our Civil Air Patrol has no business involving itself in divisiveness.

  2. whiny baby snowflakes. you don’t get to complain about this. you just have to take it up [redacted].

  3. In December 2017, former employees of the Turning Point USA organization accused it of engaging in racist practices, as well as potentially illegal involvement in the 2016 presidential election.

2018 FACT: 89% of CAP members are Caucasian whites. 82% are Caucasian White Males. Where is this “diversity” in the CAP that National preaches????
