[Editor’s Note: AuxBeacon and CAP-Talk readers have been sending us information regarding CAP Brig Gen Richard Anderson’s enthusiastic endorsement of Brian Campbell to serve as The Spaatz Association Director. After the bad press of the Lori Swanson lawsuit, readers can clearly see the confession of money being exchanged to bolster both Bergman’s reputation and Civil Air Patrol’s public image with scholarship funding. Additional inquiries may arise now that it is clear that Brian Campbell enjoyed younger male hard-bodies while in this Civil Air Patrol role.]

Peer-Nomination for Brian M. Campbell, CAP #1219

I enthusiastically and without hesitation nominate Brian M. Campbell of Dover, DE, for election to a term of service as a director on the TSA Board.

I have known Brian for nearly two decades and was privileged to present him with Spaatz Award number 1219 during my service as CAP National Commander (1993-1996). Since then, Brian has risen through the CAP ranks, serving as a CAP squadron commander, member of the Delaware Wing Headquarters staff, and a full-time professionally employed staff member in the Cadet Programs Directorate at CAP National Headquarters at Maxwell AFB AL. While at HQ CAP, Brian conceived, crafted, and executed numerous initiatives that benefitted the CAP cadet program and which remain in use across the country a dozen years later.

Today, Brian is a devoted husband, father, and successful businessman in Delaware. He daily demonstrates and models the qualities of leadership, service, and excellence that are epitomized by the CAP cadet program and the General Carl A. Spaatz Award. Most recently, Brian endowed a TSA Aviation Leadership Scholarship in the name of CAP Brig Gen Paul M. Bergman, CAP National Commander from 1996 to 1998. This ALS was presented just last month at TSA’s 2012 Mid-Winter Meeting and Awards Dinner in Washington DC.

I cannot speak strongly enough about the energy and devotion that Brian will bring to a seat on the TSA Board. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to make this nomination, and I urge the TSA membership to give Brian the strongest possible consideration. TSA will be well served by his stewardship in a position of leadership and trust.

2014 [Spaatz Association] Election Candidates

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for the Spaatz Association for the past 2 years. When Rich Anderson nominated me for a seat on the board two years ago, I promised that I would work to achieve a few milestones as a board member. The first was to increase the number of flight scholarships, raise money to have a more far reaching impact into Civil Air Patrol and to look for opportunities outside of our own organization.

It turns out that in less than 2 years, the board has achieved these goals and so much more. We have launched the new grant initiative and have already awarded over $10k to local units, wings and cadets in support of their programs. We have impacted over 120 cadets as a result of this program. I have utilized my network of resources to raise more than $50k over the past 2 years to fund and support our program. I continue to look for ways of securing consistent funding such as corporate matching programs, PAC matches and diverting United Way contributions to our organization. I worked with and secured matching funding to send 10 cadets to ground school in 2014 (and looking to move this forward to become a permanent benefit of the organization).

I have attended all but one board meeting since I was elected to the board. I would like to continue to look for opportunities to expand our grant program and secure significantly more funding. I would like to encourage the membership to create an associate non-voting membership category for those people who would like to support the Spaatz Association.

There is a lot of work to be done to continue to move our organization forward, and would be honored to continue serving as one of your board members.

Thank You.

Brian M. Campbell, Major, CAP
Spaatz #1219

  1. Pay to Play, Stray or Stay: Anderson Contributors

The recent articles on Campbell, Anderson and the IG report from Allan Stein started me looking into Civil Air Patrol members who paid to play and hold positions in Civil Air Patrol. With Anderson exposed and removed from office, you and your readers can follow the filthy money without fear.
