In this photo, Lt. Cmdr. Tim Murphy, a psychologist with the Navy Reserve Medical Service Corps at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda, and the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district, sprays fake blood on the bandages of a Civil Air Patrol cadet. This effort was part of the preparation for the July 2014 National Disaster Medical System Exercise at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The photo is credited to Senior Airman Marjorie A. Story Update

In October 2017, reports emerged that 64 year old Congressman Tim Murphy had encouraged his 32 year old lover, Shannon Edwards, to abort her pregnancy despite holding a strict public anti-abortion stance. Text messages were exposed showing that Shannon Edwards, rightfully, objected to the hypocrisy.

Murphy is a member of the House Pro-Life Caucus who sponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. A post on Facebook page proclaimed “we’ve had great victories to protect the sanctity of life in the first weeks of this New Year!”

House Speaker Paul Ryan later announced that Civil Air Patrol advocate Tim Murphy had tendered his resignation effective October 21, 2017. Follow up investigations described a culture of endemic abuse and harassment in Murphy’s congressional office.

Republican Rick Saccone conceded today 3/21 that he is the loser in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district special election.

Civil Air Patrol and AuxBeacon readers should be told more about Rick Saccone. After he resigned from the Air Force, he became a civilian employee of the U.S. Army working in Iraq during the Iraq War from 2004-2005. What did he do there?

He served as an interrogation consultant at Abu Ghraib prison and he is an advocate of waterboarding. I learned about this from amoral Civil Air Patrol members who would talk cheerfully about him and who had read his book. But there is much more.

    * Saccone advocated for waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and other forms of “enhanced interrogation” in articles and in his book God in Our Government.

    * Rick Saccone defended POS Roy Moore from accusations of sexual assault.

    * The Penn. Assembly showed that Saccone spent lavishly on certain non-essential items and used taxpayer money “for meals, per diem payments, and other items at a rate higher than most lawmakers.”

    * Saccone also spent $117,400 to lease an office from Dowling Properties, a real estate company founded by Celine Dowling, one of his campaign donors.

    * Saccone is a Baptist who has stated that God wants those who have the “fear of God in them” to “rule over us”.

  2. On Lt Cmdr Tim Murphy from 2014 who was actually promoted by the Navy to the rank of Commander:

Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, adultery is a crime that can be prosecuted under Article 134, which includes “any offense which is of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, or conduct which is prejudicial to good order and discipline.”

To prove such a case, a prosecutor must show not only that an act of extramarital sex occurred between the two parties, but also that it brought discredit to the armed forces.

A military commander makes that determination.

If charges are not filed, the individual’s command can separately request an administrative separation.
